It's
12:30 in the morning where I am right now and so I have little energy left to
going on a big introduction and explanation on why I made this blog. So, let's
get to the point shall we.
As
per the title and description, this blog is supposed to help me keep myself in
check while I'm attempting all the above. The past few weeks I've been arguing
with myself on when exactly I should apply for my MBA; this year, or next year.
The 3rd round of deadlines is just months away so really I shouldn't even think
of applying now, it's just insane - what on earth was I thinking?! So, common
sense and a certain person got into my head and made me realize that, it's okay
to wait!
And
so here I am, on my second week trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be
doing and where on earth do I even start with all this. Enter
www.beatthegmat.com – the best thing that could’ve ever happened to this damsel
in distress. An invaluable resource that I think anyone who’s considering an
MBA should utilize to its fullest. So, I stumbled across Stacey Koprince's
articles on beatthegmat.com on just starting the GMAT prep and it pretty much
saved me from crashing and burning before I even got started. I got all the
questions in my mind sorted out. It's also per her advice that we keep a journal
to write down our study plans and keep everything in check.
I've
already gotten to the point of creating a timeline for myself as to when I
should take the test(s), how long I need to prepare based on the earliest
application deadline of the list of school's I (think) I want to apply to, etc.
This timeline plan was also from beatthegmat.com – a webinar event they had
just recently which I was referred to by DanaJ from the BTG community, the
webinar is titled Smart People Start Early. I really like the sound of that!
Haha. You can find the link to the video recording in the Resource page.
So,
what I have so far based on the plan suggested by the webinar:
- Target GMAT score: 785 (ambitious? I think not, I really want an 800 so shooting for a 785 is like lowering my expectations already)
- Earliest application deadline: November 15th (that's Stern baby! yeah you do!)
- Based on the time I have between now (today) and my earliest application deadline planned first GMAT test early-mid July, second GMAT test end of August.
- The estimated test date could possibly change to be sooner (don't want it to be later) depending on how my primary studying goes.
Next
step, take my very first full GMAT practice test!
